Pupils who cannot hear well in class are sometimes seen as difficult, inattentive or even outright disobedient. Problems particularly arise when teachers don’t know about hearing problems, or forget that this might be the cause of a pupil failing to respond to a question or an instruction. Loss of hearing is not an absolute matter either, and you may well have pupils who have intermittent hearing loss due to glue ear, asthma, allergies and other, sometimes hidden, ailments.
